WakeScot get local support!

If there was ever a time when WakeScot organisers Matt and Barry McGrandles needed a boost it is in the run up to their leading development wakeboarding event on the 14th August. The guys have been receiving some last minute support from local companies who heard that one of their lead sponsors has had a change of direction in the UK market and has pulled their support.

‘It’s not the fact that they pulled their support’, explains Matt, ‘it’s the fact that they left it so late in the day to let us know. Without the likes of local companies Dron & Dickson, Safequip and Data Space Scotland who have come to the rescue in the last couple of weeks we would have been struggling. We are almost at our sponsorship target now and I know we will get there but the last thing organisers need in the month leading up to their event is funds being pulled.’

As WakeScot moves into its 3rd of operation it has built up an audience UK wide especially through social media like Facebook and Twitter. ‘We think it is a key part of letting people know about us’, Barry explains. ‘We have a good audience on these social networks and when other extreme sports fanatics from throughout the world hear about WakeScot they are always keen to learn more. We hope that we can attract at least the same number of entries as last year plus the 300 crowd who watched.’

With less than 2 weeks to go before WakeScot 2010 the competition has several entries in each category and an enthusiastic following on the ride all weekend package that is being offered. Further details about the event can be found at www.wakescot.com
